There was once

A captain

Who sailed the sea

And went headfirst into every storm

Dove into every battle

Not for glory

Or vengeance

Or for some predestined path

But only for the thrill of the chase

The feeling

Of having the wind run

Through your hair

Breathing in the very essence of life

Because she was tired

Of being tied down

tired of being told

That because of who she is she

Wasn’t good enough to live the way she wanted

So she broke free

Battled the storm

And battled the sea

And she found what she wanted

Out on the ocean

That plane of calm blue

Where secrets get laid to rest

And the troubles of the world fall

Into nothingness.
